Hiiscript Hiiscript is an open-source screenplay writer built as a small Electron and Capacitor-ready app by Kabrownie Digital. It is MIT-licensed and designed to keep your writing local, private, and portable.

Why support Hiiscript? Hiiscript is offline-first. Scripts, settings, characters, and scene suggestions are stored locally on your device. The app has no accounts, advertising, analytics, tracking pixels, or background screenplay uploads. Draft files are written only when you choose Save.

Your donations help fund ongoing development, accessibility improvements, testing across desktop and Android releases, documentation, and the release pipeline for Windows, Linux, and Android builds. They help keep Hiiscript free, open source, and privacy-respecting for everyone.

What Hiiscript does Write and format screenplays with title-page metadata, page breaks, undo/redo, find and replace, scene navigation, focus mode, and word/page/runtime statistics.

Manage saved characters and scene suggestions in the Library.

Import and export: Fountain and Markdown export, drag-and-drop import, and local PDF import via PDF.js.

Preview pages paginate automatically when screenplay content reaches the letter-page boundary.

Recovery snapshots are written to local browser storage while you edit.

Save and open JSON draft files in Electron, or use browser downloads/file selection on the web.

Available for Windows, Linux, Ubuntu/Debian, and Android through direct downloads and GitHub Releases.

PDF import may download the open-source PDF.js library from a public CDN the first time it is used. The PDF is processed locally in the app; no screenplay upload service is used.
