The HardenedBSD Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt not-for-profit charitable organization in the USA. The Foundation serves as a tax-exempt vehicle to fund and support The HardenedBSD Project. The HardenedBSD Project is a human rights-focused enterprise operating system that supports global digital human rights efforts. HardenedBSD is a FreeBSD-based operating system with extra security enhancements and exploit mitigations.

The HardenedBSD Project and Foundation together have helped bypass censorship regimes and provide secure communications for those in at-risk or under-served populaces.

All donations go toward supporting and growing the computer and network infrastructure. No members of the Foundation receive a salary or pay as it is a volunteer effort.
